Global Bus Hire

Vienna packs a great deal into a small centre. Saint Stephen's Cathedral, the Graben and a cluster of historic palais sit within a few hundred metres of Stephansplatz, while the main airport, the big stadiums and the coach stations lie further out. Global Bus Hire provides private coaches, minibuses and buses with professional drivers, so your group can move between all of them together, on your own schedule.

Our fleet runs from 8 seater minibuses to 70 seater coaches and double deckers. We handle airport transfers, wedding transport, corporate and event travel, and school and university trips. Tell us what you need and we will come back with a tailored quote.

Private group transport across Vienna

Every booking is a private hire with a driver. That means the vehicle is yours for the agreed journey or day, with no shared seats and no fixed timetable. Our coach and minibus hire in Vienna covers simple point-to-point transfers as well as full days with several stops.

Coach hire suits larger groups heading to conferences, concerts or matches. Minibus hire works well for smaller parties, families and executive teams who want something more compact. Bus hire, including double deckers, is an option when you need to move a big crowd in one go.

Booking follows four steps: share your requirements, get a tailored quote, confirm and schedule, then relax and ride in comfort. We recommend booking at least 2–4 weeks in advance, and our 24/7 customer support is available throughout, including during your trip. Questions can also be sent on WhatsApp.

Choosing the right vehicle for your group

For airport runs with a handful of passengers, an 8 or 16 seater minibus keeps things simple. Mid-sized groups, such as wedding guests or a department heading to an offsite, often fit a 25 seater midi coach or a 29 or 33 seater coach.

Larger groups can choose a 49, 57 or 70 seater coach, and double deckers are available too. Executive and luxury coaches can be requested for corporate clients and special occasions. If you are unsure which size fits, tell us your passenger numbers and luggage, and we will suggest options in your quote.

The table below shows the seating capacity of each vehicle in our fleet. Remember to allow for luggage, especially on airport transfers.

Airports, stations and venues around Vienna

Vienna International Airport (VIE) is about 18 km from the city centre, making it the usual gateway for arriving groups. M. R. Stefanik International Airport (BTS) is about 62.5 km away and is another option for flights into the region. We can arrange transfers from either airport to your hotel, venue or onward destination.

Groups arriving by long-distance coach may come through Wien Hauptbahnhof (Fernbusbahnhof), about 2.6 km from the centre, or Vienna International Busterminal, about 3.6 km away. Central U-Bahn stations such as Stephansplatz, Schwedenplatz, Karlsplatz and Stubentor are all within a short walk of the historic core.

For sport and large events, Ernst-Happel-Stadion is about 3.6 km from the centre and Generali Arena about 5.2 km. Stadion Hohe Warte, Wiener Sportclub-Platz and Steffl Arena Halle 2 are also within roughly 6 km. In the centre itself, venues such as the Winterpalais, Palais Niederösterreich and the Theatersaal der ÖAW host conferences and receptions, close to the Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst and the Österreichische Akademie der Wissenschaften.

Planning a coach trip in Vienna: access and driver hours

The historic centre has strict rules for coaches. Inside the Ring and along Franz-Josefs-Kai, a coach can only drop off or collect passengers if it has a valid bus access permit. This permit comes through the hotel, venue or restaurant you are visiting, so it is worth checking with them early if your plans include a stop in the centre.

At chargeable bus parking areas, passengers can get on and off free of charge for up to 30 minutes, but parking itself is always paid. Extra restrictions apply on the four Saturdays in Advent and on some special occasions, so mention your dates when you ask for a quote.

EU rules also shape longer days and excursions. A driver can normally drive up to 9 hours a day, rising to 10 hours no more than twice a week. After 4.5 hours of driving, breaks totalling at least 45 minutes are required, though a 2024 amendment allows some flexibility for occasional coach trips. Daily rest is at least 11 hours, reducible to 9 hours a limited number of times. For long or multi-day itineraries, these limits affect timings, and we can discuss options when quoting.
