Global Bus Hire

Amsterdam rewards groups that plan their transport around how the city works. Schiphol sits about 10.5 km from Dam Square, and the stadiums are spread around the outer districts. Coaches also face clear limits on entering the historic centre. Global Bus Hire provides coaches, minibuses and buses with professional drivers for groups of almost any size, from 8 passengers up to 70.

Tell us where your group needs to be, when, and how many people are travelling. We will send a tailored quote for the right vehicle. That could be an airport run, a conference shuttle, a match at Johan Cruijff ArenA or a school day out to Muiden Fortress.

Coach, minibus and bus hire for groups in Amsterdam

We cover the full range of private group travel in and around Amsterdam. Coach hire suits larger parties on day trips, tours and event transfers. Minibus hire works well for smaller teams, families and wedding parties. Bus hire, including double deckers, can be discussed for groups that want everyone on one vehicle.

Airport transfers are a large part of group travel here. We can quote for runs to and from Amsterdam Airport Schiphol, and also Lelystad Airport and Rotterdam The Hague Airport. Corporate and event transport covers conference shuttles, client hospitality and team outings. Wedding transport can move guests between ceremony, reception and hotels. School and university trips range from museum visits in the centre to sports fixtures and historic sites outside the city.

Booking follows four simple steps: share your requirements, get a tailored quote, confirm and schedule, then relax and ride in comfort. Our 24/7 customer support stays available while your trip is under way, and you can also reach us on WhatsApp.

Choosing the right vehicle for your group

Our fleet runs from an 8 seater minibus and a 16 seater minibus through a 25 seater midi coach to 29, 33, 49, 57 and 70 seater coaches. A double decker is also available. Executive and luxury coaches can be requested for corporate guests and special occasions.

In Amsterdam, vehicle size affects more than seat count. Larger coaches are subject to city centre access rules, explained further down this page. Splitting a big group across two smaller vehicles is sometimes worth considering, depending on your pickup points. We can talk through the options when we prepare your quote.

Use the table below to match your group size to a vehicle. If your numbers are close to a vehicle's limit, or luggage space matters for an airport run, mention it when you request a quote.

Getting around Amsterdam by coach: airports, stations and venues

Amsterdam Airport Schiphol (AMS) is about 10.5 km from Dam Square, which makes it the obvious gateway for most visiting groups. Lelystad Airport (LEY) is about 43 km away and Rotterdam The Hague Airport (RTM) about 56 km away. Both can be quoted for if your flights land there.

Rail and bus links cluster around the centre. Amsterdam Central Station is about 1 km from Dam Square. Rokin, Nieuwmarkt, Waterlooplein and Vijzelgracht stations are all within about 1.5 km. The bus stations at CS IJzijde and Busstation Elandsgracht are each about 1 km away, and Olof Palmeplein is about 4 km out.

For sport and events, the Olympic Stadium is about 4 km from the centre. Loek Loevendie Ballpark, Wagener stadion and the Velodrome lie between about 6 and 7 km away, with Johan Cruijff ArenA about 7 km away. Central meeting spaces include Meeting Venue Singel80, Akhnaton, Moustaqbel, Villa Kakafonie and The Location, all within about 1.2 km of Dam Square.

Visitors often head for the Royal Palace, the New Church, the Amsterdam Museum, Madame Tussauds Amsterdam and The Amsterdam Dungeon, all close to Dam Square. Further out, Huize Frankendael is about 4 km away and Wester-Amstel about 7.5 km away. Vesting Weesp and Muiden Fortress are each about 13 km away, making easy half-day or full-day coach outings.

Planning a coach trip in Amsterdam: access and driver hours

Coaches over 7.5 tonnes need an exemption to enter the city centre inside the S100 ring road. The only exception is a coach that keeps to the route along Weesperstraat, Valkenburgerstraat and Kattenburgerstraat. If your hotel or venue is inside the ring, check your pickup and drop-off points early. Whether the rule applies to your vehicle, and how it affects your plans, can be discussed when we quote.

Without an exemption, groups can be picked up and dropped off at coach stops on the edge of the centre, at De Ruijterkade Oost and at several public transport stations. Most coach stops allow up to 10 minutes, and De Ruijterkade Oost allows up to 15 minutes. After that, the coach must move to a car park or designated coach parking area. In practice, this means your group should be ready and waiting at the agreed time, with luggage to hand.

EU rules also shape longer days out. A driver's daily driving is normally limited to 9 hours, rising to 10 hours no more than twice a week. After 4.5 hours of driving, breaks totalling at least 45 minutes are required. A 2024 amendment allows some flexibility in arranging breaks and rest on occasional coach trips. Drivers also need a regular daily rest of at least 11 hours, which can be reduced to 9 hours a limited number of times. If you are planning a long excursion, a late return or a multi-day tour, share your full itinerary so we can quote a schedule that fits these limits.

Frequently asked questions

Can a coach pick our group up at Dam Square or a central hotel?

Coaches over 7.5 tonnes need an exemption to enter the centre inside the S100 ring road, unless they only use the Weesperstraat, Valkenburgerstraat and Kattenburgerstraat route. Without one, pickups happen at coach stops on the edge of the centre, at De Ruijterkade Oost or at several public transport stations. Send us your addresses and we can discuss the options when quoting.

How long can a coach wait at a pickup point in Amsterdam?

Most coach stops allow up to 10 minutes, and De Ruijterkade Oost allows up to 15 minutes. After that, the coach has to move to a car park or designated coach parking area. Please make sure your group is ready at the agreed time.

Do you provide airport transfers from Schiphol?

Yes. We can quote for group transfers to and from Amsterdam Airport Schiphol, about 10.5 km from the city centre. We also quote for Lelystad Airport and Rotterdam The Hague Airport. Share your flight details and group size for a tailored quote.

What size vehicles can we hire in Amsterdam?

Our fleet includes 8 and 16 seater minibuses, a 25 seater midi coach, and 29, 33, 49, 57 and 70 seater coaches, plus a double decker. Executive and luxury coaches can also be requested. Availability depends on your dates, so ask for a quote.

Can we book a long day trip or multi-day tour from Amsterdam?

Yes, but EU driver hours rules apply. Daily driving is normally limited to 9 hours, with breaks required after 4.5 hours of driving and a daily rest of at least 11 hours. Send us your full itinerary and we will quote a schedule that works within these rules.

How far in advance should we book?

We recommend booking at least 2–4 weeks in advance, particularly for larger coaches or busy dates. If your trip is sooner, get in touch anyway and we will check what is possible.
